Another week has gone by and we have another episode of Naruto Shippuden to look forward to - episode 71 entitled: Friends have just been released in Japan and brought to you subbed in English absolutely free of charge. Watch the battle continue as Naruto tries to bring Sora back from the depths of darkness within the Kyuubi. There is no manga this week as it is a Japanese holiday - so dont hold your breath. Lucky for us, this episode was not cancelled! Enough talk, lets get on with the show!

Naruto’s persistence is unparalleled! All that for a friend! Forgive me but I am not that much of a saint.
I thought Kazuma would have had a more pitiful end. Asuma wasted too much time talking instead of fighting. Anyways, Naruto dominated this arc, I admire his resolve.It’s not a total waste as some people put but instead it makes you like Naruto even more. He will surrender his life just to save his ‘friend.’ For once, he was able to shut up the arrogant Kyuubi(he just withdrew into his cage like a whipped dog). I know well all like vigilantism and would have loved to see Naruto beat Sora to a pulp. But I think the author was trying to teach us that violence is not the answer and the misuse of power is far worst than any act of violence.

Nico - nicely put once again! I agree totally about Narutos persistence and commitment to his friends. It is such a recurring theme though(gaara=naruto=sora=social outcast), would like to see him lose it for once!
I like the part he controlled the Kyuubi.
Anyway looks like this arc is over - was one of the best fillers in my opinion. Next week we should be back on track with the main storyline. Poor Asuma.
Thanks admin. for acknowledging my comments. I agree with you;I’d like to see naruto treat his enemies as enemies and stop trying to make friends out of all of them. It kinda takes away the excitement. Take shippuuden 70&71 for instance, everyone was waiting for a showdown between the two ‘kyuubis’ but instead Naruto went all noble on us (I feel so bad for saying this). The leaf shinobi are too lenient on their attackers and that is why they get injured so much(especially naruto).
Asuma is a shinobi and that lifestyle exposes him to an ill-timed death;too bad Kurenai will have to raise that baby on her own.
It’s time Konahagure start acting like shinobi instead of the saviors of the world. In case they haven’t noticed, everyone is out to get them. Even Sasuke!

Kinda depressed about the no manga I want to see the eight tails
but guess that means that they’ll have 2 manga chapters next week
about these filler arcs some are interesting but they have nothing to do
with the story and its not like any of the friend that naruto made in the
fillers will appear in the manga am I right?
It would appear that Asuma saw his own demise or felt it (from his shougi conversation with Shikamaru). Anyone knows who is the king?
well, so far, ????, I haven’t seen anyone of those friends naruto made appearing in the manga, so I can assume that they won’t in any of the episodes. But in any event it was a good filler this time around.

but the characters in the fillers are not really important
and those pre shippuuden fillers were stupid
i think fillers are not even done by Masashi Kishimoto, so no they will never
be in the eps, sep for the monk from the fire temple will be in the eps, and yes
it was the best filler in the naruto series. Hpoefully they will do justice to

i think we can all safely say that filler characters wont be recurring in the storyline ( i could be proven wrong). I am sure the rule behind any filler is - it should NOT have any permanent changes (ie no characters dying, no permanent change in landscape, no new jutsus learnt etc), all will end well! Hence despite the ominous threat to Konoha’s existence, we all KNOW it was going to be 100% fine!
The main storyline, though, is harder to read obviously - people DO die. I am not sure who the king is. interesting thought nico re Asumas sense of vulnerability from his shougi conversation with Shikamaru. i just love Shikamaru - not very strong but a brilliant tactician. No doubt if Naruto doesnt become Hokage (which is the expected outcome), then my bet will be on Shikamaru! (hmm maybe Tsunade since she is a student of one of the 3 great Sages)
My theory is that ‘the King’ is in actuality Konohagure. It seems a bit far-fetched but I can’t think of anything else. I think they mix the fillers with part of the storyline because that little insert with Asuma playing shougi with Shikamaru was actually happening while Naruto was learning chakra recomposition. And we saw him doing that way back (shippuuden 55 i think).
I like Shikamaru too and I think he’s a more suitable Hokage than Naruto. But I wish he had a more offensive fighting style.
Frankly, I am not surprised that Asuma is going to die because, to date, I haven’t seem him perform any remarkable jutsu. I know he was one of the twelve ninja guardians but he hasn’t done anything to prove that his techniques are still within that hierarchy. Unlike kakashi, who have demonstrated time and again that he is indeed the ‘copy ninja.’
i to like shikamaru,but i don’t think he will become hokage because of his lack of
offensive power,the hokage is the brightest,strongest,most experienced shinobi with
a wide verity of jutsu,and a strong drive. Shikamarue is no doubt the smartest of all
the shinobi in konaha,but is really lacking in the other areas,he would best be suited
as an adviser,much like he is now. If you want to know who would make the best hokage
out of the konaha 12,it would probably be neji,he may not be overly strong in one area
but he is very well rounded,or sakura because she is a tsunade clone basically with
some genjutsu skill,but naruto has a long way to go befor he is anywhere near hokage
status,to be blunt hes retarded,and hopefully the sage training will brighten him up
some,but in terms of all the other areas he is very well of,his jutsu is great(and will
be much better after the sage training),drive is great,experience is great,i mean the kid
can learn S ranked jutsu in a fraction of the time,he just needs the smarts.
Naruto’s frivolity is what made us watch the anime in the first place. His comical disposition made it all the more interesting from the first episode up to now.Naruto will make a fine Hokage, and for the record, he’s not retarded (but you are certainly entitled to your opinion). Everyone has different learning styles(I’m sure you know about Multiple Intelligences) and Naruto is a Tactile/Kinesthetic learner which doesn’t make him anymore retarded than Shikamaru. You will do well to remember that he bested Neiji and Gaara (and to date no one has beaten either of those two before or after Naruto)-I do know that Deidara captured Gaara but that only happened because Gaara wanted to protect his people. You must also remember that the Hokage must be willing to put his life on the line for his people,and many of them have died in that fashion,i.e, Sarutobi, Minato, etc., So far only Naruto have unflinchingly displayed that he is definitely not afraid to give up his life to protect his comrades and village (something Shikamaru and Neiji is just beginning to grasp). Being hokage is not just about brainpower and skill and maybe that’s why Jiraiya turned down the offer even though he was more than qualified (he was the village’s fist choice).
Naruto has a far way to go indeed, and mastering senjutsu will definitely make him stronger but I doubt he’ll be any less ‘hyperactive’ (that’s his character trait) and I love it!

anyway and Naruto’s gotten way smarter and He will keep improving cause he

I shouldn’t even have to argue that Naruto is not retarded. Of everyone in Konoha, including Tsunade, who would you choose to have your back on a dangerous mission? Who would readily jump infront of a kunai or shuriken to save you?

well if it’s just a cyclone, ????, then I can’t see how it is powerful. It’s like telling me that Naruto will create a powerful shadow clone, that doesn’t make sense, a shadow clone is a shadow clone. What I’m trying to say is, what makes this cyclone powerful after all it is just swirling wind, somewhat like Rasengan and Rasengan would be more powerful since it is much more concentrated. Not sure if you understand. Remember the rasengan can’t really kill a skilled Jounin, much less your cyclone. It’s a good idea, mind you, but it needs modification. See my previous comments on shippuuden 70 about fusing it with something which gives it power
Sasuke’s Kirin is powerful because it’s a force of nature. Remember Itachi couldn’t dodge it and it would definitely kill him if he hadn’t used Susano’o to protect him. Sasuke used katon Gouryuuka no jutsu to heat up the atmosphere forming storm clouds and he fused the power of nature with chidori to form a new raiton jutsu:Kirin and that’s what made it powerful and unstoppable. Be reminded that sasuke’s chakra alone couldn’t create Kirin. So modify your cyclone, it’s a good idea but it needs work
well retarded was a bit extreme,but naruto takes a lot longer to explain something to then
most,for example,when he was doing nature training,kakashi had to explain it to him,what
was it 3 or 4 times,each time more simplistic then the last,and he does have his “smart”
moments,but you have to admit he is not anywhere near hokage intelligence,a hokage must have
the ability to way situations and the risk of what could happen if proper action is not taken.
Also i was in no way doubting nautos’ chivalry,when it comes to putting his life on the line for
his friends,and even his enemies at time showing mercy when he shouldn’t,everyone knows naruto
would be the first one to sacrifice his life for his friends and village,(in fact i did mention
that was one of his strong points),but heart is not the only thing that a hokage needs,in my opinion you need both heart and reasoning to effectively run a village, before he becomes hokage he needs to settle and think before he runs into a situation(something he has never done except for his two fights with kakashi). Much like Rock Lee naruto is the very definition of passion, persistence, and hard work, which i love in both of them, but it is also there weakness,but much like jiraiya, naruto will grow with age(hopefully)and become a hokage level ninja and prove to everyone he is the best-believe it! XD

I was making Cyclone a high powered Tornado that Tears its victims apart
By use of the sage Chakra when Naruto if not He can use it when its really windy
And fuse his wind chakra with it I also came up wit a whirlwind kunai where he forms
a blade of wind around his fist but he already has rasen-shuriken so that won’t work
I also have other Ideas But I typed enough for now

????, once again, your ideas are a work-in-progress… just take a break from it and do something else then come back to it and will be able to refine your ideas. A visual will help a great deal too.
Sexyrocklee, you certainly clarified your statement-that is the spirit of the discussion forum-and you did justice. I will concur that Naruto is not at this present time Hokage material, but do doubt that he will be a great hokage? Not for a second!

An excellent point ????. Jiraiya was as much a nuisance as Naruto-they were both tired to the stump-but he became the famous toad sage and legendary Sanin.
Yondaime Hokage was an excellent shinobi and his mastery of the Flying Thunder God technique is unrivaled. Because of this, he was nicknamed Konoha’s ‘Yellow Flash,’ and other ninjas were ordered to run for it if they ever see him on the battlefield. While it would be good for Naruto to learn this technique, I don’t know of anyone who can teach him this jutsu.

Yes. That’s an interesting idea but the Flying Thunder God is somewhat of a summoning jutsu, therefore, Naruto wouldn’t need to use that until he at least have become a Jonin and has his own squad.
